Snowforecast.com provides the only
quality, free, non-National Weather Service, "hand made",
snow/ weather forecast to selected California Ski/ Snowboard
enthusiasts which is actually sponsored and used by the resorts
represented. Despite resort sponsorship, we do not alter our
forecasts to get people to the resorts, we just tell people
what we think the weather is going to do. The process is slow
as we gain trust through forecast
performance. We are going on our 9th year of internet-based
resort weather forecasting (2006-2007'). The forecast is now
accepted and used as the official internet snow/ weather forecast
of choice for all the major Southern California Mountain Resorts
+ almost all major Colorado ski resorts...namely Aspen-Snowmass,
Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Copper Mountain,
Crested Butte, Keystone, Sunlight Mountain,
Vail, and Winter Park...with more possibly on
the way. We also forecast for Taos Ski Valley in New
Mexico for year around forecasts also sponsored by the local
Taos Ski Valley Chamber of Commerce. In the Tahoe Valley and
northern Sierra Nevada range, we are now covering Kirkwood
and Heavenly with our forecasts, with hopefully more
on the way. In Utah we are forecasting for Brian Head,
and hope to add some Salt Lake area resorts soon. North Idaho
and Northeast Washington area resorts are now starting to be
coverred by our forecasts also.
Through a gained forecasting reputation by snowforecast.com
and personal meetings with many of the resort's representatives,
each Resort is providing it's customers with the snowforecast.com
snow/ weather forecast linked directly from their respective
homepages and/ or snow report website pages. This provides the
entire Southern California Ski/ Snowboard market and most of
Colorado's mountain resort visitors with the snowforecast.com
snow/ weather forecast. The potential to grab the attention
of these markets via the internet is unprecedented using the
snowforecast.com website ad space!
Describing the audience at snowforecast.com would be comparable
to looking at a mountain resort's customers. Many customers
are from *.edu domains (educational institutions), or
were other professionals like Doctors, Technicians, and Teachers.
We get plenty of *.mil hits also. In a nutshell...anyone
who would strap or click themselves in to a set of skis or a
snowboard and care enough about their sport to check the weather
forecast for long or short range planning purposes visits our
site. We also get many visitors from all over the world; Countries
like Israel, England, Iran, Australia, Germany, and many others
who come to Colorado to ski or board.
The 1998-1999 season ended with 20,000+ page views per month
with only word-of-mouth advertising! (1999-2000) 1.2 million
(whole season), or about 200,000 (monthly) page views were recorded!
The 2000-2001 season saw about 1.5 million page views. The 2002-2003
season saw well over 2 million page views and over 600,000 unique
visitors. The 2003-2004 season saw near 4 million page views
and near 700,000 unique visitors. The 2004-2005 season saw near
7 million page views and near 900,000 unique visitors! We expect
more this year...the trend has always been upward as we gain
customers, outside sites linking in to us, and overall popularity.
The 2006-2007 winter season should see near/ over 1 million
unique visitors as it did last year! These are highly targeted.
