6-day Forecast Discussion Updated for Monday, February 8, 2010

OVERALL SITUATION--***We recently gave away Jay Peak lodging last week--but Waterville Valley tickets are next!  Become a fan on our Facebook page (with a LOT more fan interaction) and look for more details coming soon!!!***

Broad low pressure to our northeast will ease away early this week (still some light accumulations for northernmost resorts) before we watch another storm approach from the west through midweek.  We look snowy enough to get some accumulations but the track may slip by to our south to limit them a bit more.  Reinforcing cold air pulls in behind this storm for the rest of the week with residual snow showers tapering off again (northernmost resorts again favored).  The pattern settles down for the weekend.

Today and Tuesday--Broad upper level troughing remains close by to our north early in the week which will keep some scattered clouds and some light snow showers/flurries and continued northwesterly winds (and windchills!).  Mainly drier and sunnier conditions return through Tuesday with weak/brief high pressure ridging.

Wednesday--Watching potential storm development out west as upper level low pressure helping to whip up some  snowfall (finally!) by the PM.  We like our chances of getting some accumulations out of this by Wed night (initial  call of probably around a foot) however, there it may slip a bit to our south so we may have to adjust accumulations down....we'll start edging our totals down a bit and focusing on southern resorts picking up more out of this.  Snow continues overnight as winds start shifting and increasing.

Thursday and Friday--That storm stalls over the Canadian Maritimes and keeps us in a continued chilly and windy northwesterly flow with continued light snow/showers (northernmost resorts mainly).

Saturday--Partly sunny with any snow showers/flurries shutting down...still cold and a bit breezy--CT

Long range forecast / discussion...February 14 to 17

Broad upper level troughing to our northeast gradually pulls away allowing our temperatures to slowly rebound to seasonable norms.  That also shuts down our storm pattern for a while too--things look fairly quiet for a stretch so we're not expecting snowfall early next week--CT
