Low pressure creeps ever so close today before it pulls in heavier rain later this weekend. It still looks like mainly rain with this system but perhaps some summit snow later on Sunday. We turn dry and mild again when we clear this latest storm early next week.
Today--High pressure ridging holds for just one more day keeping approaching cut-off low pressure to our southwest. More cloudiness spills in as southeasterly breezes start to pick up but we should remain dry through the day (a bit damp/drizzly for southern resorts). Temps remain steady mild with very light southeasterly breezes.
Saturday and Sunday--Cut-off low pressure slows up as it pulls closer to us and keeps a moist southerly flow with an increasing chance of some rain. The good news is, is that most of the rain may hold JUST to our south across MA on Saturday. Southeasterly winds will be picking up pulling in the clouds. Southernmost resorts (Okemo through Mt Snow) could see some light rain sneak in late in the day but northern areas may escape with a dry but cloudy day. The best chance of rain will be Saturday night through Sunday as the edge of the rain shield edges in from the south a bit more. Expect winds to continue through Sunday things get a little sloppy--heaviest rain still for southern most resorts while northern areas catch mainly light rain. Snow levels look to stay up around 6000 or 7000 feet though most of the weekend but we are actually looking at the possibility of dipping low enough to get some wet snow (summit mainly) on Sunday. Since peripheral moisture will be light in the coldest air, accumulations are not expected to be much, and again, mainly for the summit.
Monday thru Wednesday--Lingering low pressure will start pulling away out to sea Monday with decreasing clouds and light rain easing off followed by some clearing and winds shifting more northerly. Snow levels drop back down to slope level but moisture will be gone by then. A dry northwesterly flow sets up through Wednesday--CT

Long range forecast / discussion...March 17 to 20A more calm and quiet pattern settles in for much of next week--low pressure troughing lifts north of us allowing a dry northwesterly flow for our region. We look dry through the rest of the week until deep troughing works through the Midwest. This could approach us with some storminess next weekend but with leading edge rain a threat--CT
