US Extended Snowfall Outlook
Updated October 28, 2017

LAST DAYS OF OCTOBER/ EARLY NOVEMBER...
High pressure ridging will shift to the eastern US starting this coming week, for an overall warm-up (some low pressure systems will still affect the northeast at times).

--Low pressure develops/ deepens across the western US, with colder air and snow likely for western US resort areas again. The resort areas from Mammoth-Tahoe and north to the Cascades and Inland Northwest US, east to Utah and Colorado, will all see about a week to 10 days (Nov 02/03 to Nov 10/12) of frequent snows, some heavy, to build up the early season base depths. If you want the real insight on what is coming in the longer range, useable information, then keep checking back with the site that has been "Predicting Sick Days since 1998". Most of the information above was posted 8 days ago. Have a great season! CM

Inland Northwest - NE Washington - North Idaho - Northwest Montana
Inland Northwest USA, Here is your to the point forecast (Wednesday Nov 15, 2017)...

A fairly strong low pressure system moves in today (Wednesday the 15th) with a more consolidated jet stream and stronger dynamics for heavier snow to the Inland Northwest resort areas. Initially we will see some snow level issues, like snow levels at 4,500 to 5,000 feet tonight and Thursday morning before a cold front moves in and drops snow levels to 3,000 and then 2,500 feet or lower later Thursday and Friday morning, though much of the shower activity is winding down by then. The bulk, a bit more than half, of the available precipitation potential is expected to fall as rain below 4,500 feet. A good 1/2 foot of snow or more, to 1 foot at Lookout Pass, is expected from this storm at/ above 4,500 feet. Snow showers continue Friday morning, moving out from the north (Schweitzer) during the day Friday (sun comes out), lingering for Lookout Pass on Friday, before a high pressure ridge builds in for the rest of the weekend with a cloud/ sun mix and milder temperatures.

Sunday night and Monday... The next round of showers and snow move in, with snow levels favorable to the resorts for the most part, rising to near 4,500 feet again, but mostly below that, for another 1/2 foot or more of snow to the resort areas. CM
