...AVALANCHE WARNING IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY EVENING THROUGH FRIDAY...


*WHAT... Heavy snow and strong winds will result in HIGH (4 of 5)
avalanche danger


*WHERE... The Grand Mesa, Sawatch, West Elk, Elk Mountains, San Juan
Mountains


*WHEN... Expect very dangerous avalanche conditions to begin on
Tuesday evening and last through Friday


*IMPACTS... Large and dangerous avalanches will be easy to trigger.
Large avalanches will run naturally.


*PRECAUTION/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Travel in backcountry avalanche
terrain is not recommended from Tuesday evening through Friday.
Avoid travel on and under slopes with a slope angle steeper than
about 30 degrees. You can find more detailed information at

EVENING...

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 6 and 12
  inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.

* WHERE...In Colorado, Southwest San Juan Mountains and Uncompahgre
  Plateau and Dallas Divide. In Utah, La Sal and Abajo Mountains
  generally above 6500 ft.

* WHEN...Until 11 PM MST this evening.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The
  hazardous conditions could impact the Friday morning and evening
  commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Slow down and use caution while traveling. The latest road

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for northwest Colorado, southwest
Colorado, west central Colorado, east central Utah, northeast Utah
and southeast Utah.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

Another round of snow showers will continue through this evening with
4 to 10 inches of snow expected for most mountain areas and a couple
inches for some valley locations. The heaviest snow accumulation is
expected over the San Juans with southern valleys most favored among
valley locations for heavier snow.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.

The probability for widespread hazardous weather is low.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation is not expected today or tonight, however
spotters are encouraged to report snowfall amounts to the
National Weather Service in Grand Junction.
