Gusty north northwest winds will cause some blowing snow again
today into tonight in northern and northeastern Iowa, where snow
remains on the ground. This may prolong road clearing efforts and
hazardous travel conditions.

An Extreme Cold Warning is in effect for the area tonight through

* WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 40 below zero
  expected tonight into Friday morning, and possible again Friday
  night into Saturday morning.

* WHERE...Portions of northern into northeastern and central Iowa.

* WHEN...For the Extreme Cold Warning, from 9 PM this evening to
  noon CST Friday. For the Extreme Cold Watch, from Friday afternoon
  through Saturday morning.

* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 40 below zero
  could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must
go outside.

Keep pets indoors as much as possible.

Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
