This will cause some slick spots on untreated roads that were wet and freeze up. Areas near the lakeshore will see heavier snow showers develop into the afternoon hours and persist at least into the early evening hours. This will cause snow covered and slick roads, and reduced visibilities to less than a mile at times. The snow showers could persist into the night, and increase the forecasted accumulations. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday An extended period of cold weather with accumulating lake effect snow showers is expected to cause slick roads much of the time from late Friday through Tuesday. Total snow accumulations between 1 and 3 inches for eastern sections of the counties, to 6 to 8 inches along and west of I-196. Locally higher amounts are possible west of I-196. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph. * WHERE...Allegan and Van Buren Counties. * WHEN...Until 7 AM EST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Visibility and road conditions may change rapidly over short distances in lake effect snow. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow showers will be the heaviest from mid afternoon through early evening before likely moving offshore. If they stay onshore tonight, locally heavier amounts will be possible. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Slow down and use caution while traveling.
