Total snow accumulations between 4 and 7 inches and ice accumulations up to one tenth of an inch. Locally higher snow amounts possible. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph. Highest snow amounts will be near the Lake Huron shoreline. * WHERE...Alpena, Cheboygan, Emmet, Montmorency, and Presque Isle Counties. * WHEN...Until 10 PM EST this evening. * IMPACTS...Roads will become slick and hazardous due to the wet snow. Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening commutes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A period of freezing drizzle is likely this afternoon and evening after the main batch of wet snowfall. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Persons should delay all travel if possible. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution and be prepared for sudden changes in visibility. Leave plenty of room between you and the motorist ahead of you, and allow extra time to reach your destination.
