A wintry mix of rain and snow is forecast to start late afternoon, changing over to snow beginning early Thursday morning. Freezing drizzle will at times mix in, with a few hundredths of an inch of ice accumulation, most likely south of US-2. Winds increase from the south this afternoon, with gusts of up to 40mph possible. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday Strong northwest winds will develop Thursday and Thursday night, strongest along the North and South Shores of Lake Superior where gusts in excess of 40 mph are likely. Snowfall accumulations of 2 to 4 inches are possible north of US-2, with locally higher amounts across the Arrowhead and Cook County. South Shore lake effect snow will continue into early Friday morning, with 3 to 5 inches possible for portions of Bayfield, Ashland, and Iron counties. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Snow spotters are requested to report precipitation type, and measurements of snow or ice accumulations today and tonight to the National Weather Service.
