Increasing south winds are expected today, with gusts up to 50 mph in higher elevations of south-central and east-central South Dakota and southwest Minnesota. Grassland fire danger will be locally elevated in snow-free areas where the grasses and ground have sufficiently dried after recent snow. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday. Stronger northwest winds expand across the region Thursday morning behind a strong cold front. Gusts of 55 to 60 mph will be common, with isolated gusts up to 70 mph possible near and west of I-29. Scattered snow showers may lead to additional travel difficulties due to rapidly changing visibility, including during the Thursday morning commute.
