Incoming waves in rapid succession can tire even an experienced swimmer quickly. Rip currents can move you away from land. To avoid being swept away, swim parallel to the shore to exit a rip current. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A high risk of rip currents is forecast again for Thursday. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Hazardous Weather Outlook National Weather Service Duluth MN 353 PM CDT Wed May 27 2026 MNZ010>012-018>021-025-026-033>038-WIZ001>004-006>009-282100- Koochiching-North St. Louis-Northern Cook/Northern Lake- North Itasca-Central St. Louis-Southern Lake/North Shore- Southern Cook/North Shore-North Cass-South Itasca-South Cass- Crow Wing-Northern Aitkin-South Aitkin-Carlton/South St. Louis- Pine-Douglas-Bayfield-Ashland-Iron-Burnett-Washburn-Sawyer-Price- 353 PM CDT Wed May 27 2026 This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin. .DAY ONE...This afternoon and Tonight Strong northeast winds will increase the threat of rip currents through this evening for areas near the Twin Ports, including the beaches of Duluth and Superior. A Beach Hazards Statement is in effect for these areas. Dry relative humidities this afternoon over portions of northeast Minnesota will create near-critical fire weather conditions. There is a 10-20% chance of thunderstorms along and south of WI-70 in northwest Wisconsin and around the Brainerd Lakes this afternoon and early evening. Severe weather is not anticipated at this time. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday Strong northeast winds Thursday and Saturday will create a high risk of rip currents for the beaches of the Twin Ports. Portions of northeast Minnesota will see dry RH values leading to near-critical fire weather conditions Thursday. Warmer and drier conditions are expected Friday with widespread near-critical fire weather conditions expected. Several rounds of isolated afternoon and evening storms are forecast Saturday through early next week. Severe weather is not anticipated at this time. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
