Heat indices in the 100-105 F range are expected through Friday. An Extreme Heat Warning Remains in effect until Friday evening. * Low chances (~20-30%) for showers and storms through the end of the week, mainly across north and northwest Missouri in the evening and overnight hours. * Scattered storms possible (40-50% chance) Saturday, July 4th, in the afternoon and evening. There is a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) of severe weather. * Off-and-on rain chances (20-30%) continue into early next week with slightly cooler temperatures (low 90s) and lower heat indices (95-100 F). $$

Overnight lows in the upper 70s. * WHERE...Portions of east central and northeast Kansas and central, north central, northeast, northwest, and west central Missouri. * WHEN...Until 9 PM CDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Several days of extreme heat will impact the region with poor heat relief during the overnight hours. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside.
