Temperatures will remain very cold through the weekend. A reinforcing cold front will bring the threat of very low wind chills again on Wednesday night and Thursday night. A strong arctic front may bring the coldest weather of the season this weekend. Temperatures across the northern mountains are likely to remain continuously below freezing from Friday evening until at least Monday afternoon. As this period of unusually cold weather prolongs, the potential for damage to infrastructure, including burst water pipes will steadily increase. In addition to the cold weather, confidence is increasing that wintry precipitation will develop across the area beginning Friday evening, continuing into Saturday, with snow expected to be the primary precipitation type.
