   Heat Advisory.

There is a marginal to slight risk of severe thunderstorms, mainly
this evening through tonight. While there is a risk of severe
weather, the better chance of thunderstorms will remain northeast of
the region.

More rounds of thunderstorms are expected at times Thursday through
the weekend. A few of these storms may be strong to severe, with
locally strong winds the main hazard.

...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values in the 96 to 100 range each afternoon.
  Very warm and muggy temperatures overnight will not provide much
  relief.

* WHERE...Southern Erie and Wyoming counties and the western
  Southern Tier.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  related illnesses to occur.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and
pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any
circumstances. This is especially true during hot weather when car
interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.
