URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Pendleton OR 1008 AM PDT Tue Apr 14 2026 ORZ509-150615- /O.CON.KPDT.WS.W.0005.260415T0000Z-260416T1200Z/ East Slopes of the Oregon Cascades- Including the cities of Camp Sherman, Sunriver, La Pine, and Sisters 1008 AM PDT Tue Apr 14 2026 ...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 5 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 5 AM PDT THURSDAY ABOVE 4000 FEET... * WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches above 4000 feet with locally higher amounts along the Cascade crest. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph. * WHERE...East Slopes of the Oregon Cascades. * WHEN...From 5 PM this afternoon to 5 AM PDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Significant snowfall with periods of heavy snowfall rates will combine with low visibility to create very difficult driving conditions. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Lighter snowfall is forecast below 4000 feet along US 97, US 26, and US 20. Steady snowfall late this afternoon into Wednesday morning will turn over to snow showers Wednesday afternoon. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains, booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing. Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help you survive in case you become stranded. Do not touch downed lines and report any power outages to your electric company.
