Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches on the western ridges with locally higher amounts possible. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph. * WHERE...Cambria and Somerset Counties. * WHEN...Until 5 PM EST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Rain will transition to snow this evening and continue through tonight before tapering to snow showers on Thursday. A blustery northwest wind will send temperatures plummeting below the freezing mark overnight into the mid teens by Thursday morning. Wind chill values Thursday morning will be in the negative single digits. Frequent snow showers will continue through Thursday afternoon with an additional minor accumulation likely. Rain will mix with and change to wet snow early this evening across the northwest mountains. The change over will continue to work eastward and southward this evening, with the higher elevations of the Laurel Highlands mixing with and changing to snow by mid evening. As temperatures fall this evening, roads will likely become snow covered and slippery. Icy spots could form as temperatures fall below freezing later tonight and and gusty winds develop. Persons with travel plans this evening should be prepared for a wide range of conditions and use caution in areas of adverse weather conditions.
