This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for northwest Iowa, west central
Iowa, southwest Minnesota, northeast Nebraska, central South
Dakota, east central South Dakota, south central South Dakota and
southeast South Dakota.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

Southwest to west winds gusting 25 to 40 mph are expected through
the afternoon. These strong winds and low humidity levels will
produce Very High to Extreme grassland fire danger this afternoon.
Outdoor burning should be avoided today.

As winds swing around to the northwest, speeds will further increase
by early evening. Sustained winds of 30 to 40 mph with gusts 55 to
over 70 mph are expected through tonight. Secure outdoor objects and
be prepared for potential power outages.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday.

Light snow will be possible Friday night into early Saturday. The
greater weekend impacts will come Saturday afternoon through Sunday
though. There is growing confidence that a winter storm will impact
the region, bringing a risk of moderate to heavy snow and strong
winds. The exact storm track and resulting snowfall totals are still
uncertain. Continue to monitor forecasts closely and be prepared to
adjust travel plans.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation is not expected at this time.
