This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for the Maryland portion of the
Chesapeake Bay, Tidal Potomac River, and I-95 corridor through
central Maryland, northern Virginia, and District of Columbia.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect from 10 AM to 8 PM.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday

An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect from 10 AM to 8 PM Friday.

An Extreme Heat Watch is in effect for Independence Day (Saturday)
from 10 AM to 8 PM. The significant heat risk will linger through
the weekend. Air temperatures of 95 to 100 combined with the
humidity may result in heat index values of 105 to 110 during the
afternoon hours.

Severe thunderstorms are possible particularly during the
afternoon and evening hours Friday through Monday.

Spotter activation may be needed Friday through Monday.

* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions each afternoon with heat index
  values between 110 to 113 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of DC, central, north central, northeast,
  northern, and southern Maryland, and central, northern, and
  northwest Virginia.

* WHEN...For the first Extreme Heat Warning, until 8 PM EDT this
  evening. For the second Extreme Heat Warning, from 10 AM to 8 PM
  EDT Friday. For the third Extreme Heat Warning, from 10 AM to 8 PM
  EDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
  extreme heat and high humidity events.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
