Rain and freezing rain developing this afternoon. Heavy mixed precipitation and snow spread across the Northland tonight with significant ice and snow accumulations expected for the Arrowhead. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday A major winter storm continues through Thursday morning. Blizzard conditions with dangerous travel will impact the North Shore, while heavy snow and ice affect the rest of the region. A second system brings another round of snow Friday into Saturday morning. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Snow spotters are requested to report precipitation type, and measurements of snow or ice accumulations tonight to the National Weather Service. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 8 inches for northern Douglas and Bayfield Counties, elsewhere between 2 and 4 inches of snow. Ice accumulations around one tenth of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph. * WHERE...Bayfield and Douglas Counties. This includes the Tribal Lands of the Red Cliff Band. Other locations including the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. * WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to noon CST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday morning and evening commutes.
