URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service La Crosse WI 409 AM CST Tue Dec 9 2025 ...IMPACTFUL WINTER WEATHER TUESDAY AFTERNOON INTO TUESDAY NIGHT... .A fast moving winter system will move into the area Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night. North of Interstate 94 in central Wisconsin, mainly snow is expected with accumulations of around 5 to 7 inches. Along Interstate 94, mainly snow of around 1 to 5 inches is expected with a light glaze of ice from brief freezing rain. South and west of Interstate 94, predominantly freezing rain and rain are expected with accumulations of a light glaze to a few hundreths. Regardless of precipitation type, hazardous travel conditions are expected this afternoon into this evening. After the initial snow and freezing rain, winds will ramp up Tuesday night and a short burst of intense snow showers may occur with a strong cold front as it pushes southward. Thus, while only minor amounts of new snow are expected overnight, a period of low visibility and hazardous travel is expected.
