URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
National Weather Service La Crosse WI
409 AM CST Tue Dec 9 2025

...IMPACTFUL WINTER WEATHER TUESDAY AFTERNOON INTO TUESDAY NIGHT...

.A fast moving winter system will move into the area Tuesday
afternoon into Tuesday night. North of Interstate 94 in central
Wisconsin, mainly snow is expected with accumulations of around 5 to
7 inches. Along Interstate 94, mainly snow of around 1 to 5 inches
is expected with a light glaze of ice from brief freezing rain.
South and west of Interstate 94, predominantly freezing rain and
rain are expected with accumulations of a light glaze to a few
hundreths. Regardless of precipitation type, hazardous travel
conditions are expected this afternoon into this evening. After the
initial snow and freezing rain, winds will ramp up Tuesday night and
a short burst of intense snow showers may occur with a strong cold
front as it pushes southward. Thus, while only minor amounts of new
snow are expected overnight, a period of low visibility and
hazardous travel is expected.
