This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of eastern North
Dakota, west central and northwest Minnesota.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight

There is a level 2 out of 5 risk for severe thunderstorms after 10
PM through the overnight hours. The main hazards will be wind to
75 mph, hail to size of ping pong balls, isolated tornadoes, and
localized flash flooding.

Heat index values around 100 degrees are expected this afternoon,
with a chance for values as high as 105. A Heat Advisory is in
effect.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday

There is a level 1 out of 5 risk for severe thunderstorms Sunday.
The main hazards will be gusty winds to 70 mph, hail to the
size of ping pong balls,isolated tornadoes and localized flash
flooding.

Heat impacts are expected again Sunday afternoon, mainly across
southeast North Dakota and west central Minnesota.

...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 8 PM CDT SUNDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 101 expected. Heat index values may
  reach 105 at a few locations in the southern Red River Valley.

* WHERE...In Minnesota, Wadena, Clay, East Otter Tail, Grant, West
  Otter Tail, and Wilkin Counties. In North Dakota, Cass, Ransom,
  Richland, and Sargent Counties.

* WHEN...For the first Heat Advisory, until 8 PM CDT this evening.
  For the second Heat Advisory, from noon to 8 PM CDT Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Light wind and ample sunshine amid hot
  temperatures and high humidity will contribute to heat related
  impacts.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.

If you do not have air conditioning in your home or lack shelter,
you can call 211 for assistance locating appropriate shelter from
the heat.
