Today and Sunday - A high pressure ridge builds in again with mostly sunny skies and milder temperatures today and Sunday, ahead of stronger storms moving in to deliver some holiday season snowfall just before and during Christmas, looking heavy.

Monday (23 Dec) - Strong low pressure will be hitting California with rain and snow, while some clouds and increased winds are expected for Aspen-Snowmass and western Colorado. Overnight expect increased moisture and lowering clouds, with developing light snow showers, heavier for southwest Colorado.

Next Tuesday and Wednesday (24 and 25 Dec) - A good looking low pressure system moves in and through, for near a foot of snow across Aspen-Snowmass, as the wind flow across the mountains becomes southwest, with lots of dynamics at all levels of the atmosphere, especially at the levels that count. Southwest Colorado will see 1+ to 2 feet of snow, possibly more above 10,000 feet, a nice "gift" before the holiday week really kicks off. Meteorologist/ Chris Manly

LONGER RANGE: Storms move through with snowfall during the Christmas to New Year time period. More detail is coming in the next update.
Winter is looking more snowy and colder than average across western Colorado and Aspen, as we have been saying since this summer, and is happening. Meteorologist/ Chris Manly
